This is the fourth and final section of Road Rash. It focuses on my return to Asia for employment as an English teacher, after few job opportunities were revealed in the United States. My aim in this section is to show the transition from the life of a traveler to that of an expatriate.  I also want to explore the politics of being a US citizen in Southeast Asia. (more…)

One Interlude in a Botched Life

Just published but still unemployable in the United States, I promptly went back to life on the streets once again. This introduction traces the chaotic path of a vagabond — from low-paid labor on organic farms in France to squatting penniless in Berlin parks. Ultimately, this chapter tells the story of why I decided to teach in Korea once again. (more…)
